HOUGHTON LONG LUNCH:
CELEBRATING REMARKABLE PRODUCE & AWARD-WINNING WINE
On Saturday November 29 2008, Western Australia’s most awarded winery is hosting the ultimate extravagant experience, the Houghton Long Lunch. Renowned Houghton winemakers Rob Bowen and Ross Pamment will match luxurious dishes prepared by the famed Chris Taylor of Fraser’s Restaurant.
Verity James (ABC) will host the day, while the Sarah McKenzie Trio will entertain 100 patrons as lunch is served in the tranquil Jacaranda gardens of Houghton Winery.
As an aperitif, the multi-award winning Wisdom Pemberton Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2004 will accompany freshly shucked oysters, followed by Kingfish carpaccio and seared scallops matched with Wisdom Great Southern Riesling 2008.
The Houghton White Classics 1998 and 2008 have been matched with twice cooked barramundi in orange and cinnamon stock, allowing the opportunity to sample both new and aged varieties of this iconic Australian wine.
Houghton is famous for producing a selection of Australia’s most sought-after Cabernet Sauvignons, and Chris Taylor’s lamb shank with spinach brioche, lentils and beetroot will compliment Wisdom Margaret River 2005 and Gladstones Margaret River 2003, with the latter wine having collected a remarkable 8 trophies and 8 gold medals on the Australian wine show circuit.
The new release of the flagship Jack Mann 2002 leads into Chris’ roast fillet of succulent braised beef, and chief winemaker Rob Bowen is delighted to present a pre-release of the Jack Mann 2004, described by James Halliday as “a beautiful wine in every respect; purity of classic varietal fruit, texture, structure and length all perfect…”
Rob Bowen explains “I am thrilled to show our wines with Chris’ exquisite dishes, and to serve these decadent delights amongst the stunning purple Jacaranda trees with the Sarah McKenzie Trio performing live, it will surely set the scene for an incredibly memorable experience.”
A limited number of tickets are on sale now and selling fast. Cost is $250 pp, 11.30am for apertiffs closing at 4:00pm on Saturday 29 November.
